My Study Bar

My Study Bar is free assistive technology software for PCs. It is a toolbar at the top of your screen from which you can open a range of different free programs.

These include:

  • Text-to-Speech
    • Balabolka is a word processor with text-to-speech built in.
    • Orato is a text-to-speech program that vocalises the text you copy to your clipboard
  • Concept Mapping: XMind
  • Screen tinting software:
    • Tbar allows you to make a coloured bar across the screen which you can move as you read
    • ssOverlay tints the whole of the screen with a colour of your choice
  • Predictive typing: LetMeType

Downloading MyStudyBar

You can download each of the MyStudyBar programs separately. In the case of XMind this is a good thing to do as the version on MyStudyBar is not up-to-date. Some people also find that they need to download the programs separately because the bar itself is not compatible with their version of Windows.
