Alice Cook
Assistive Technology Trainer and Study Skills Tutor (SpLD)
Having graduated with a maths degree, I continued to work as a note-taker at the university I graduated from in Plymouth. After working with a student with a visual impairment for a year I had a newfound understanding of the difficulties disabled students faced and felt passionate about continuing in this line of work. I moved to Southampton in 2017 and started working as an Academic Support Specialist before starting to work with D&A. My understanding of disabilities and support has gone from strength to strength and it is having a strong impact on how I teach young people. When I am not teaching AT, tutoring mathematics or Scouting, I can be found paddleboarding and generally near the water around Hampshire come rain or shine. I am, somewhat unsurprisingly, a tea-aholic and I love a trip to one of the many UK cat cafes!
